We loved this experience and highly recommend it! Casey is an amazing host - kind, knowledgeable, and humble. We loved learning about his one-man coffee farm, enjoying his beautiful gardens, and learning from him. A delightfully mellow and interesting afternoon - it was one of the highlights of our trip. We can’t wait to come back and visit Casey again!
This was one of the best experiences we had on our trip to Maui. My husband and I love coffee and always knew the background of steps in getting the beans, but we had no idea the extent of the process. Casey showed us not only the history of his families land, but every single detail behind the process of preparing coffee beans for roasting. From picking to, pulping, to fermenting, rinsing, and drying. I definitely appreciate my coffee more now knowing how much hard work goes into it. His coffee smelled amazing—only wish we had remembered cash to buy some! Casey also just made the experience all the more memorable such a kind man and very intelligible!! We didn’t leave his property without answers to any of our questions. I would sign up for this tour all over again.
Amazing experience you can’t get anywhere else in the world. The host was very knowledgeable about Kula and all of the coffee, fruits, and plants on the farm. His story (being the grandson of Chinese immigrants) was very unique. Along with purchasing a bag of coffee, the host let us sample a couple of fruits he also grows on the farm. I would recommend this experience to anyone staying in Maui. It is a completely different experience from staying near the beach/other tourist places.
Casey’s farm, Utopia, is nestled 3300ft up the mountain with an absolutely breathtaking view. Casey was a very gracious host, walking us through how coffee is processed, his life leading up to being a coffee farmer, and showing us the many trees, plants and fruits throughout his garden. There was never any rush and he invited us to linger a bit afterward as he fed the horses. And this experience isn’t just for coffee-lovers. My wife loves coffee and I do not care for it, but we both agreed this experience was one of the highlights of our trip :)
